Lynn - Climbing the Alps with MS

I HAD A WONDERFUL TIME IN GERMANY AND AUSTRIA THIS YEAR, IT WAS THE FIRST TIME SINCE I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH MS THAT I HAD GONE TO AUSTRIA AGAIN. I WAS SO AFRAID THAT I WOULD HAVE A REALLY ROTTEN TIME, AND NOT BE ABLE TO DO VERY MUCH THERE. WHEN I FIRST GOT THERE I WAS AMAZED AGAIN AT HOW TRUELY BEAUTIFUL IT WAS THERE. I WAS DETERMINED THAT MY MS WOULD NOT CHEAT ME FROM ENJOYING EVERY MINUTE THERE. THE FIRST DAY THERE I WALKED AROUND IN THE LITTLE TOWN WE WERE IN. THE SECOND DAY I WENT A LITTLE FURTHER AND RODE THE LIFT UP TO THE UPPER STATION ON ONE OF THE ALPS AND WALKED HALF WAY DOWN THEN RODE THE LIFT THE REST OF THE WAY DOWN. THE NEXT DAY I WENT AGAIN TO THE ALPS A DIFFERENT ONE THIS TIME I RODE HALF WAY UP ON THE LIFT THEN WALKED UP THE REST OF THE WAY TO THE TOP. I WAS SO HAPPY, I COULDN'T STOP SMILING. I KNOW THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE WERE THINKING I WAS REALLY STRANGE CLIMBING THE ALPS WITH TWO CANES,  BUT I WAS AMAZED BY HOW MANY TOLD ME THEY THOUGHT IT WAS WONDERFUL THAT I WAS EVEN TRYING TO DO THIS. I TOLD THEM I WILL NEVER GIVE UP. I WILL DO WHAT I CAN FOR AS LONG AS I CAN, THEN I WILL FIGURE OUT A DIFFERENT WAY TO DO WHAT I DID BEFORE. THE NEXT DAY I WALKED 5 1/2 KILOMETERS WHICH ANY ONE WHO KNOWS ME THINKS IS AMAZING. I WENT SLOWLY WATCHED WHERE I WAS GOING ENJOYED THE SCENERY, WHEN I WAS TIRED I SAT DOWN AND RESTED OR JUST STOPPED AND LEANED AGAINST SOMETHING UNTIL I FELT BETTER AND MOVED ON AGAIN. OF COURSE PART OF THE REASON I WAS DETERMINED TO GET DOWN TO THE BOTTOM WAS THE DELICIOUS CAKE AND COFFEE I WOULD HAVE WHEN I GOT THERE. IT WAS SPECTACULAR. THE NEXT DAY I CLIMBED AGAIN ANOTHER ONE OF THE ALPS, MAKING SURE TO TAKE PICTURES SO I COULD PROVE I ACTUALLY DID IT OF COURSE. THE FEELINGS I FELT WHEN I ACTUALLY GOT TO THE TOP WAS UNBELIEVABLE, I KNEW THEN I COULD AND NEVER WOULD SIT BACK AND LET MS WIN. I WILL CONTINUE TO FIGHT THIS EVERY STEP OF THE WAY. BECAUSE I FOUGHT THE MS, I HAD ONE OF THE BEST VACATIONS IN MY LIFE. I ALSO WALKED THE 5 1/2 KILOMETERS AGAIN I AM NOT SURE IF IT WAS JUST THE CAKE I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO OR THE SENSE OF SELF SATISFACTION, OR THE COMBINATION. I ALSO WALKED MORE IN THE ALPS. WOULD I DO IT AGAIN ? OH YES IN A SECOND. NEVER GIVE UP. I WON'T.

Healing Power of Humour and Laughter

In the event that the following may be helpful to my fellow MSers or to those who work with and for MSers, I am sending this link to you...

http://www.youtube.com/user/Comed54  (TVO's "Person 2 Person" interview with Paula Todd about being diagnosed and living with Multiple Sclerosis, and "Comedy @ Club 54" taping).

I believe very strongly in the healing power of humour and laughter for I have reaped their benefits in my own life.  In July, it will be 14 years since I was diagnosed with MS. I have never been on any of the available drug treatments, apart from Prednisone during my first attack and during two further significant relapses.

I credit a change in my own attitude and outlook on life with keeping me well during this time.  I look for "the funny" in every experience that I have, especially negative experiences (i.e. the various hellish symptoms of MS that plague each of us more often than we'd like, etc.).  Granted this is not always easy, but it does always help me to face the issue and move on laughing...a very empowering feat, considering this illness which fights me daily for more control.

Thank you for all that you are doing for my fellow MSers!

Peace and Blessings,
Chrystal

Jukebox 1956-1960

Take a look at this; someone did a lot of work to make this happen. There are several jukeboxes with songs/artists, each jukebox is a different year 1956-1960. Fun to hear some of these old songs.
